Silver Sneakers and Other Medicare Benefits
Founded in 1992, Silver Sneakers is a program that encourages older adults (65+) to exercise and maintain greater control of their health. The program sponsors activities and social events and also encourages social interaction.

Silver Sneakers is available at over 16,000 participating gyms and fitness locations around the country (basic level access). -

Each participating location includes an advisor, who will introduce you to the program and help you get started. Additional opportunities include sponsored health education seminars and other fitness-related events. -

You can discover, track, and plan your workouts on the Silver Sneakers GO app (available on iOS and Android). -

You don’t have to go to the gym to participate. A Silver Sneakers membership includes access to the FLEX network, a wide-variety of classes for all skill levels that are available at recreation centers, churches, senior communities, and many more locations.
What Medicare plans cover Silver Sneakers?
Although Silver Sneakers is considered a basic fitness service, it is NOT covered under Original Medicare (Part A & B). Many Medicare Advantage plans, known as Medicare Part C, may provide this benefit. Although uncommon, some Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans include fitness benefits too.
